Pointers in Spell and Ritual Writing

Writing a spell is hard. Sometimes even an experienced person can be stumped.  A rule of thumb may be that you should try your other non-magickal options first. If that doesn't work out, try this.

First:                        Decide what your goal is.

Second:                   If you need to, match your correspondences. This isn't absolutely nessecary, but it helps set your      mind into the proper tone.

Third                       Write the spell. Rhyme is best as it also sets the mind. Besides, the gods love poetry. If you have no poetic skill, just talk to them honestly and openly. (If                                  you haven't been already.)

Forth:                      Gather your supplies. If you don't have what you need, a white candle, a kitchen knife, and a quartz crystal will do.

Fifth:                       Cleanse everything. If its not cleansed it can interupt the energy flow.

Sixth:                       Do the spell. This consists of Creating the sacred space, invoking who you want to invoke, and doing the energy work. Then you ground yourself. Lastly                                  you open the circle.

Seventh:                  Record the spell

Eigth:                      Record the Spells results.

 

Some tips to keep in mind

1.                              You must BELIEVE the spell will work for it to work.

2.                              Never cast a spell to hurt another, no matter how bad they were to you. If you are wanting revenge, there are far more satisfying ways of achieving  your                                  goal...trust me.

3.                              Never cast a spell on someone who is unwilling. It enslaves them to your will, not their own. The    goddess and the god gave us free will for a reason.

4.                              Never cast a love spell on any person for any reason. This will just keep your karmic nose clean.

5.                              Be upfront and honest in all spell dealings.

6.                              Don't sell doing spells. There is a great controversy over whether to sell services in the craft. By not selling spells, you keep     yourself from having to deal                                  with such a messy issue.

7.                              Creating a useful little charm is an easy spell that can be useful when dealing with others who want you to do a spell for them. This can send the spell                                  with the person making the request.

8.                              If your under 18, don't say you cast a spell on someone EVER. A girl in Oklahoma got expelled from school for just saying      it. She never really did it.

 

Times for rituals are the Sabbats and the Esbats (full and new moons) as well as the sacred days of the Gods you patronize. You can utilize the the internet and a variety of books for rituals to suit your purpose and ways. Always record what your rituals were and what was done.

Okay, Its time for a little talk about spells. Not rituals….spells. I don’t do them often. I often find there are other ways to do it. I always ward my home space and vehicles I travel in (if I can).

 

This is where you can get in trouble; ethically and legally. If someone knows you do spells and they have trouble, they could point at you and say “They cast a spell on me!” I know this can happen because a high school student in OK got in trouble this way. I don’t talk spells with non-pagan people. Its just safer this way. I don’t give out my spells either because it avoids problems later, such as when it doesn’t work and the person who didn’t succeed blames YOU. Beyond that, the forth pillar “TO KEEP SILENT”, there is a reason for it. Talking spells can cost your spells energy.

 

I cast my own spells with Latin words. This is not traditional to most people. Poetic phrasing with archaic English is enough to create a touch of mystery to most people. I write so much poetry mixed with archaic English for fun that it is no mystery for me. Therefore all phrasing in Latin. A language I believe I spoke in a past life once. And no, I was not anyone famous, just an ordinary soldier who that was all he did.

 

In closing here are a few things about spells but you will see none of my own.

 

Charm Key

 

•                Purpose: This indicates what the charm is for, what its supposed to do.

•                Herb: Two Pinches are placed in a charm if the matter is minor and three pinches if the matter is major.

•                Stone: One stone is to be placed in the charm if the matter is minor. Two stones to be placed in the charm if the matter is major.

•                Color of Cloth:  The color of the fabric used to create the charm. You place the stones and herbs in on the cloth and fold it like a pouch.

•                Color of Candle: This is the color of the candle(s) that is lit during the incantation used to help charge the charm.

•                Color of Cord: This is the color of the thread that seals the other indications in the charm.

•                Time: Time can be either full moon, waning moon, new moon, or waxing moon. The charm must remain under the specified moon for three days.
