The runes are a very ancient alphabet used for magic. The word rune means "secret" or "mystery". They explain the Norse story of creation and destruction and all oneness. The magic of the runes was known to be used into the 1700s. In the Elder Futhark, there were 24 runes originally. There is another set that is much younger with only 16, but it was only used in a very small area and it was not commonly used by many the of the rune readers. The runes have many connections. In fact, they have correspondences with almost any type of correspondence. Readings can be simple or complex based on the skill of the reader and the way the runes fall. Rune readers have evolved of the centuries. The first rune readers carved their runes into sticks to create lot sticks. They would be thrown into the air and how they landed would be interpreted by the reader. The roman writer Taticus wrote of this in the first century CE. They moved into the sphere of women as well shortly there after. Wooden disks came to be used a short time later due to ease of casting and carrying. Bone became used by the second century CE in order to infuse the power of the animal into the runes. Most examples of runes known today are found on grave stones as well as staves used for magic work. In the modern era, runes are made from wood, bone, stone, glass, and some man made materials. We can either buy a set or make our own. You can write in ruses as well
